About Me

Heather Milnes, BA, LTCL

After studying for a music degree (University of East Anglia), and a performer’s diploma in piano (Trinity College, London), I briefly left the music world and worked as a computer programmer for a several years. After taking a career break, when my children were small, I started teaching piano and enjoyed it so much that I didn’t want to go back to programming. I have now taught in schools, in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire as well as at home for over 30 years and have pupils from beginners to Grade 8.
Over the years I have picked up many instruments and now play and teach not only the piano but also the flute, clarinet, saxophone and guitar.
I also write music books for students of these instruments. These include the popular “Let’s Play Piano” series for young children as well as a wide range of Christmas and classical piano books.
I live with my husband, Martin also a musician, in the beautiful Wiltshire village of Ashton Keynes. We have two grown-up sons and a feisty ginger moggie called Cinnamon.
