About Heather Milnes

I took my music degree at the University of East Anglia, specialising in performing and composing. I then took a performer’s diploma in piano at Trinity College, London before, briefly, leaving the music world and working as a computer programmer for a several years. After taking a career break, when my children were small, I started teaching piano and enjoyed it so much that I didn’t want to go back to programming.
I have taught in schools, in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire as well as at home for over 30 years and have pupils from beginners to Grade 8.
Over the years I have picked up many instruments and now play and teach not only the piano but also the flute, clarinet, saxophone and guitar.
I also write music books for students of these instruments. These include the popular “Let’s Play Piano” series for young children as well as a wide range of Christmas and classical piano books.
I live with my husband, Martin also a musician, in the beautiful Wiltshire village of Ashton Keynes. We have two grown-up sons and a feisty ginger moggie called Cinnamon.
